Privacy policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
The short version: Borders has no accounts, sets no cookies, and shows no ads. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or track you across sites. Your game progress is stored only in your own browser.
What’s stored on your device
Borders uses your browser’s local storage to save:
- your progress on the current puzzle and your results from past puzzles,
- the statistics and streak built from those results,
- your color theme, and
- whether you’ve seen the tutorial.
This data never leaves your device. We can’t see it, and it isn’t sent to us or anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. If your browser blocks storage, the game still works but won’t remember your progress.
Borders also stores a copy of the game files on your device so it can work offline. This contains no personal information.
What we collect
Nothing directly. Borders has no sign-up, no forms, and no server-side database. The game, map, and font are served from this site. The only outside request is the visit count described below.
When you share your result, it goes through your device’s own share menu, or is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it wherever you like. Either way, it stays on your device until you choose where to send it. It contains only the puzzle number, difficulty, any clues you used, a grid of squares, and a link to the game. It never includes country names. We don’t see what you share or where you send it.
Visit statistics
To understand how many people play and which pages they find useful, Borders uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records page views along with general information such as the referring site, browser and device type, country, and how quickly the page loaded. We only see totals.
According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics doesn’t use cookies or local storage, and doesn’t fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites. It doesn’t see your game progress, guesses, or results.
Hosting
Borders is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
If you email us, we’ll use your address and message only to reply. We won’t add you to a mailing list or share your email.
Children
Borders is suitable for all ages and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If Borders ever adds advertising or other analytics, we will update this policy before they go live. Where the law requires it, we’ll also ask for your consent first. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy last changed.
